Shawn Underwood spent her formative years in the Seattle area,
attending public and private schools to get the broadest educational experience
possible. Shawn's parents objected to her intention to join a commune, so in
10th grade, she was encouraged (given a choice of one alternative) to join a
convent of sorts, an all girls Catholic high school. Things improved
dramatically in her social life when she attended Washington State University.
Shawn met her future husband, Craig while at college.
Shawn and Craig were married upon graduation from WSU. Shawn used her degree as
a trained audiologist to secure a position at the beer distributorship, keeping
track of the books and beer shipments, but administering no hearing tests. This
income bought the couple's food and Craig's lunch while he attended law school.
They lived on the ragged edge for several years, with ten dollars left over a
month for entertainment after groceries, gas and rent were paid. Craig ventured
into the real estate development business and thereafter he was able to buy his
own lunch and the money available for entertainment increased dramatically by
50% to $15/month.
Twenty five years of marriage and three teenage children give Shawn much fodder
for her writings. Understandably, her family does not appreciate being in her
observant cross-hairs and the subject of her material. Her writing is a good
weapon to hold over their heads, to discourage future misdeeds.
Shawn enjoys writing about daily events, family adventures, vacations and
travel, her three well behaved children and her favorite subject, her husband.
She lived in France with her family for a year in 2001-2002 and her
misadventures of speaking the language and day-to-day living in a foreign
country are legendary. All of her stories are absolutely true with no
embellishments, additives or preservatives. It is Shawn's hope, after reading
her stories, that you realize you don't suffer the misfortunes of your spouse's
or children's bad behavior on your own.
